Ziebart answered the following questions from Lake Country Now:
“ |
What strengths do you bring to the school board? I have children in the school and I am able to read everything they bring home. I am pleased with a majority of the material being presented, although not all of it. I am passionate about the curriculum; my focus is on objectivity in which all world views are fairly presented. What would you like to see changed to draw staff and/or students to the district? The district is already doing a fantastic job drawing staff and students to the district. There are far more students opting into the district than opting out. The district is creative and is constantly striving to improve. What do you see as the next steps for the district after referendum construction is complete? School finances are a main issue. The referendum construction improved the efficiency of windows, doors, lighting and mechanical systems. This should help to bring down costs, but the issues of revenue limits (lower than other school districts in the area) and funding formula (broken system of state aid allocation) still remain. What is the biggest challenge facing the district? Declining enrollment. How do you propose to address that challenge? There are few answers for this issue. The district must respond to the reduction in enrollment (and consequently the reduction in revenue) by restructuring and combining/reducing services. |
