Beth Labson Freeman is a federal judge for the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. Prior to joining the court Freeman was a judge for the Superior Court of San Mateo County in California.[1] In June of 2013, President Obama nominated Freeman for a seat on the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.[2] Freeman was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on February 25, 2014 on a vote of 91-7.[3]
Early life and education
Freeman earned her B.A. from University of California at Berkeley in 1976 and went on to earn her J.D. three years later at Harvard Law School.[2]

On June 20, 2013, President Obama nominated Beth Labson Freeman to the United States District Court for the Northern District of California to a temporary post created by 28 U.S.C. 133(b)(1).[4] Obama commented on the nomination, stating:
“ | I am pleased to nominate these distinguished individuals to serve on the United States District Court bench. I am confident they will serve the American people with integrity and a steadfast commitment to justice.[2][5] | ” |

Freeman's nomination was returned by the Senate on January 3, 2014 and she was renominated on January 6th by President Obama.[7]
Freeman's nomination was reported to the full Senate on January 16, 204 after a voice vote by the Senate Judiciary Committee.[8] Freeman was confirmed by the Senate on a February 25, 2014 on a vote of 91-7.[3]
