Beth Wilder

Beth Wilder represents the District 2 seat on the Huntsville City Board of Education in Alabama. She first won election to the board on August 26, 2014.
Biography
Wilder earned bachelor's and master's degrees from The University of Florida. She was a project manager with the St. Johns River Water Management District before becoming a full-time mom and substitute teacher. She is a committee chair and PTA member at Blossomwood Elementary School, a developer and coordinator of Club Panther and a Neighborhood Community Watch Area Leader and patroller. Wilder has also organized school year art and music lessons and summer learning camps at Mt. View Baptist Church, created a Spanish Club at Huntsville Middle School, advised other schools on how to form enrichment clubs and led the effort to restore neighborhood voting precincts that were switched to Monte Sano. She is married to Jeff Lower and has one daughter.[1]

In the August 26, 2014 general election, Beth Wilder defeated Richard V. Buchanan for the District 2 seat and Walker McGinis defeated Kimberly Battle for the District 4 seat. Elisa Ferrell and Anson Knowles competed in a runoff election on October 7, 2014 for the District 3 seat. They defeated challengers Ellen Brusick, Kathie Rooker and Pat Sanders.

Funding
Wilder did not file a campaign finance report with the Alabama Secretary of State.[2]
Endorsements
Wilder was endorsed by current school board member David Blair, Huntsville's Committee of 100 and State Board of Education Rep. Mary Scott Hunter.[3][4][5]
