Candidate Connection

Betty Burchett completed Ballotpedia's Candidate Connection survey in 2019. The survey questions appear in bold and are followed by Burchett's responses.

What would be your top three priorities, if elected?

I will continue to support policies that encourage the best education for our children: - I fully support both the TN Promise and the TN Reconnect programs. - I strongly support school choice for equal education opportunities. - I will fight for full BEP funding for our schools. - I support competitive teacher pay. - I will fight for the safety and security of our children on school property. - I will work to ensure both students and teachers have tools for success in the classroom. I will fight for funding for improved infrastructure within District 22. Our area is behind the curve on infrastructure, and this impacts our ability to attract companies to the district. The internet is the key to success in the Twenty First century and as your State Senator, I will do my best to make sure that everyone in District 22 has access to reliable broadband.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I am passionate about the next generation and making sure we leave them a better tomorrow. I will do everything I can to promote responsible economic growth and equal opportunity for District 22. I am passionate about my family and faith. God is my driving force behind all of my decisions.
