Bev Scalze (b. October 27, 1943) is a former Democratic-Farmer Labor member of the Minnesota State Senate, representing District 42 from 2013 to 2017.

Scalze did not seek re-election to the Minnesota State Senate in 2016.

Scalze served in the Minnesota House of Representatives, representing District 54B from 2005 to 2013. She served on the Little Canada City Council from 1979 to 2002.

Biography

Scalze's professional experience includes working as the owner and operator of Hoffman Corner Heating and Air Conditioning. From 1966 to 1996 she was the owner and artist of Scalze's.[1]

Elections for the Minnesota State Senate took place in 2016. The primary election took place on August 9, 2016, and the general election was held on November 8, 2016. The candidate filing deadline was May 31, 2016. Incumbent Bev Scalze (D) did not seek re-election.

Scalze won re-election to the District 54B seat in 2010. She had no primary opposition. She defeated Ken Rubenzer (R) in the general election on November 2, 2010.[7]

Taxpayers League of Minnesota

The Taxpayers League of Minnesota, a Minnesota-based taxpayer advocacy organization, releases a legislative scorecard for the Minnesota House of Representatives and Minnesota State Senate once a year. The scorecard gives each legislator a score based on how they voted in the prior legislative term on tax issues and “their efforts to balance the state budget without a tax increase.” The organization also compiles a legislator’s individual "Lifetime Score."[10]
