2014
Three seats were up for general election on November 4, 2014. Two of the at-large seats up for election were regular four-year terms. Incumbent Kathy Knecht faced challengers William Bercu and Beverly Pingerelli.[3]
The other seat up for election was a two-year term to complete an unexpired term. James Kistner was appointed to fill this vacancy when it originally occurred. However, the length of the unexpired term exceeded two years and, therefore, was required to be filled by an elected official at this general election. Incumbent Hal Borhauer, who was serving a two-year term, ran to fulfill the rest of the this term. He was challenged by Beth Joice and Judy Doane.[3]

Pingerelli provided the following statement on her Facebook campaign page:
| “ | The PUSD is a system where success requires all stakeholders to be responsible and contribute to that success, and we need more accountability in our school district. That includes students and their parents, teachers and administrators and especially your elected school board.
I also believe we parents play an indispensable role in our children’s learning. We need to send our kids to school ready and eager to learn. Teachers cannot be expected to contend with classroom distractions caused by ill-prepared students and simultaneously deliver quality instruction to those who wish to learn. If elected, I pledge to work with my fellow board members and listen to the parents, teachers and the community to develop policies that improve the quality of education our children receive. Our nation needs a well-educated electorate as we face future challenges.[4] |

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
Click here for an overview of legislative scorecards in all 50 states. To contribute to the list of scorecards, email suggestions to editor@ballotpedia.org.
