Bev is driven to continue serving her community and wants to help improve the lives and well-being for Mainers as State Senator for District 8. Bev has been deeply involved in the community for years. She proudly represented her community on the Brewer City Councilor for 6 years, including two terms as Mayor and is currently serving on the Brewer High School Board of Trustees. She is a proud Rotarian and a past-president of her local Rotary Club. In her professional life, she has served as the Executive Director for the Bangor Humane Society and currently works in commercial real estate in the Bangor area. Bev was born and raised on a farm in the Midwest, but she has called Maine home for 20 years and lives in Brewer with her wife and three kids.
  • Bev knows from her experience that good governance comes from understanding the needs of people and recognizing the perceived barriers to solutions. Good governance comes from listening before speaking and understanding the views of all sides. Good governance comes from thoughtful decision making that first and foremost makes people its priority, which is what she will lead with every day as State Senator.
  • Bev believes that healthcare is a basic human right. The current pandemic makes it even clearer that all should have access to affordable, quality healthcare, no matter one's employment status.
  • Bev has worked hard over her time on Brewer City Council to keep property taxes low. As a state senator, Bev will ensure that towns and their schools receive appropriate funding so that property tax payers are not burdened with the responsibility.
Having driven the roads from Lincoln to Castine on the campaign trail, Bev is acutely aware that our roads and bridges are in a state of disrepair. Roads, bridges, clean drinking water, modern sewer systems, and broadband: these are all things that are not just nice to have - they are necessities to ensure our kids get to school, our workers get to their jobs, and our customers get to our businesses. Appropriate funding for these services will be a priority. Broadband in particular will be incredibly important as we move forward out of the pandemic. Working for home has become a very real option for many office users across the country, and it can happen from our communities in Maine only if we have appropriate connectivity. Bev is dedicated to making this happen.
