William J. "Bill" Cashman is a Seventh Judicial District judge for Stearns County, Minnesota. He was appointed by Gov. Tim Pawlenty on May 13, 2010. He replaced Paul Widick. He ran for election in 2012 to keep his seat. His current term expires in January of 2019.[1][2]

Education

Cashman received his B.S. degree from St. John's University in 1982 and his J.D. degree from the William Mitchell College of Law in 1987.[1]

Career

Cashman began his career in 1983 as a law clerk for Quinlivan, Sherwood, Spellacy and Tarvestad in St. Cloud. He then clerked for Minneapolis firms McDonough, Geck and Cronan/Arthur Chapman (1984-1987) and Dunkley Bennett (1987-1988). He became an associate attorney of Dunkley Bennett prior to moving to the St. Cloud firm of Rajkowski Hansmeier Ltd. in 1988. He became a shareholder there and worked in that capacity until his judicial appointment in 2010.[1]

Cashman ran unopposed in the general election November 6, 2012.[3] He received 99.40 percent of the vote.[4]
