Bill Chatfield served as the director of the Selective Service under George W. Bush.[1] Chatfield was a member of Donald Trump's presidential transition team, a group of advisors tasked with recommending presidential appointments for the incoming administration.[2]
Career
A 35 year veteran of the United States Marines, Bill Chatfield served under former President Ronald Reagan in the 1980s. He worked in the Department of Defense, on the Civil Aeronautics Board, in the Office of Personnel Management, on the Consumer Product Safety Commission, in the Department of the Interior, and on the Interstate Commerce Commission.[3]
In 2004, Chatfield was appointed the director of the Selective Service under George W. Bush.[1][3]
Chatfield has served as a lobbyist in Washington, D.C.[3] He also serves on the advisory board of the Travis Manion Foundation and on the honorary board of the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (T.A.P.S.).[3][1] Both organizations seek to provide relief and help to veterans and their families.[4][5]
Donald Trump presidential transition team, 2016-2017
Chatfield was a member of Donald Trump's presidential transition team in his first presidential term. The transition team was a group of around 100 aides, policy experts, government affairs officials, and former government officials who were tasked with vetting, interviewing, and recommending individuals for top cabinet and staff roles in Trump's administration. He was the team's VA reform advisor.[2]
