I served on the Milpitas Planning Commission (2019-2024), chairing from 2022-2024 and serving as vice-chair from 2021-2022. I am currently on the Valley Water Independent Monitoring Committee, Milpitas Community Emergency Response Team, and Milpitas Kiwanis. Additionally, I volunteer with the Milpitas High NJROTC, Athletic Booster Club, and support veterans. Previously, I served on the Milpitas Zoning Advisory Group and my children’s school site council. These roles have given me valuable skills and a deep understanding of local government.

My parents immigrated from China, seeking a better life for me and my five siblings. Despite hardships, they taught us discipline and gratitude. My commitment to service started as a Boy Scout and continued as a Boys State delegate. After high school, I joined the Army as an armor crewman, driving tanks. I earned my Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering from Cal Poly, SLO. These experiences deepened my sense of duty to our country and community.

I am eager to bring fresh perspectives, proactive solutions, and dedicated leadership to our city council. My priorities: Public Safety, Workforce Housing, Optimizing Economic Growth. With your support, we can build a brighter future for our city. Vote for Bill Chuan. Visit billchuanformilpitas.com.
  • Continued Public Safety Support: I'll prioritize supporting our exceptional Milpitas public safety and first responders. This entails securing funding, competitive recruitment, and vital equipment to uphold and enhance public safety standards. Neglecting their support risks slower responses and increased crimes like home burglaries, porch piracy, and retail thefts. As a councilmember, I'll ensure our community's safety by fully supporting our public safety personnel.
  • Workforce Housing: Living expenses in the Bay Area, including Milpitas, have escalated with inflation, making affordability a pressing issue. If elected, I am committed to ensuring that affordable housing for our workforce remains a top priority in all Milpitas housing developments. I will advocate for creative solutions to address this challenge, particularly to support essential personnel such as police, fire, and education workers as well as families in need. Sustaining a family-oriented culture in Milpitas hinges on our ability to provide affordable housing options for those who serve as the backbone of our community.
  • Optimizing Economic Growth: Optimizing economic growth is essential for Milpitas to generate revenue and support the city's development. To achieve this, we need to revitalize key areas and attract businesses that meet the needs of our residents and fit strategically within the city. I will advocate for businesses that contribute to community growth and actively promote innovative companies to establish a presence in Milpitas, thereby creating local job opportunities. By fostering strong partnerships between businesses and the community, we can drive the sustainable economic growth needed for Milpitas to thrive and prosper.
