Bill Farmer was a member of the Lexington City Council in Kentucky, representing District 5. He assumed office in 2011. He left office on January 4, 2021.
Farmer ran for election for an at-large seat of the Lexington City Council in Kentucky. He lost in the general election on November 8, 2022.
Biography
Bill Farmer, Jr. is a native of Lexington, Kentucky. He graduated from Henry Clay High School and earned a bachelor's degree in business from the University of Kentucky. He also holds a graduate gemologist degree from the Gemological Institute of America. His career experience includes owning and operating the Chevy Chase landmark, Farmer’s Jewelry, with his sister, Kristi.[1][2]
As of his 2020 campaign, Farmer served on the following committees and commissions:[2]
- Environmental Quality & Public Works Committee, chair
- Sister Cities Commission, chair
- Budget, Finance & Economic Development Committee, member
- General Government & Social Services Committee, member
- Public Arts Commission, chair
- Lexington Center Board, member
Farmer has previously chaired the Corridors Commission, Fire and EMS Task Force, Planning Committee, and the committee which enacted Lexington’s Smoking Ban Ordinance. He is also a former president of the Lexington Forum.[2]
