Bill Hedrick has spent his career serving the public. He has 25 years of experience working in the Franklin County Municipal Court. He has served as Senior Lead Prosecutor, Chief Prosecutor, Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief Prosecutor, Environmental Prosecutor and Assistant City Attorney for the Columbus Ohio City Attorney's Office. He has handled thousands of cases and was selected in 2004 as on of Columbus' Top Lawyers by Business First Magazine. He received the Mayor's Award for Excellence for Outstanding Service in 2013 and was also awarded the Models of Justice Prosecutor of the Year in 2014 from the Justice League of Ohio.
Equal application of the law and effective answers and programing to address problems in people's lives.
To always remember the primary focus of an elected official should always be service. The first responsibility of an elected official is to serve those who elected them to office. Neither politics or ambition should obscure that commitment to service.
My focus is on service and treating people fairly. I have both educational and real world experience which I believe allow me to be an effective problem solver. I care about people and I care about what I do.
My first historical event I can remember was seeing Bobby Kennedy campaign in my hometown of Washington, Indiana in the Indiana Presidential Primary of 1968. I was just under 4 years of age.
I don't have a specific favorite book. My original career was as an academic and librarian so there are multiple books that have influenced me. For purposes of this question I will say "Walking with the Wind" by John Lewis. This is the story of John Lewis' and his inspiring life. I was lucky enough to meet Mr. Lewis and have a signed copy of his book.
I previously ran for Common Pleas Judge in 2004 and was given the rating of recommended . I was also given the rating of highly recommended by Criminal Lawyers Association.
Not always, sometimes these ratings are still influenced by both political and personal considerations of the committee members. I believe I was treated very fairly, but I have seen ratings that I do not think were reflective of a candidate's or judge's ability.
