Bill McNamara
Bill McNamara is the Massachusetts Comptroller of the Commonwealth. McNamara assumed office on February 21, 2020. McNamara's current term ends on January 7, 2027.
Beginning in 2016 until he became state comptroller, McNamara held senior positions in the Massachusetts Department of Revenue.[1]
Biography
In 1984, McNamara graduated from Williams College with a bachelor’s degree in English and economics. In 1990, he obtained an MBA in finance from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. He was a board member and board president of the Wellesley Free Library Foundation.[2][3]
In addition to working for the Massachusetts state government, McNamara worked for more than two decades in the investment management field, including 16 years for Fidelity Investments. While there, he became a vice president and the CFO of a major division. He also founded his own investment consulting business and was the head of investment marketing for F-squared Investments. At the beginning of his professional career he worked as a business analyst for Norton Company and as a corporate lending officer for a banking firm.[4][5]
