I have a nearly 40-year track record of leadership, problem-solving, and community impact that spans business, real estate, and public service. As President of the William Roth Company for almost four decades, I’ve built and managed a successful enterprise, honing skills in budgeting, negotiation, and strategic planning - skills I’ll bring to City Hall to ensure every taxpayer dollar is spent wisely. My time as a former president of MetroTex Association of Realtors and the Jewish Family Services taught me how to unite diverse groups, listen to their needs, and deliver results, whether it’s advocating for real estate professionals or supporting vulnerable families.
  • Safety and security must come first. Our families deserve to feel secure in their homes, parks, and businesses. I’ll advocate for fully funding our police and fire departments, ensuring they have the personnel, equipment, and training to respond effectively to emergencies. Dealing with the homeless crisis is a priority. This issue needs to be addressed compassionately but we cannot settle for the status quo. We need to pair housing with mental health services, addiction treatment, and job training programs to help people get back on their feet. At the same time, we need to ensure our public spaces remain clean and accessible by enforcing city ordinances that are already in the books.
  • Fiscal responsibility is needed in this city. We cannot solve our problems by taxing our way out nor can we cut essential services. We must help grow our tax base and become the preferred destination in the region for new business, new residents and new tourism.
  • City services need to work better. The infrastructure backlog in the City of Dallas is substantial. It is estimated that transportation-related infrastructure needs alone will cost the city over $10 billion. The Department of Public Works noted a shortfall of over $125 million in funding required to maintain streets at their current condition or to achieve “zero degradation”. We need to invest and find adequate solutions to fix the aging infrastructure of this city.
Listening and responsiveness to residents’ concerns is what I am most passionate about. My goal is a Dallas where families are heard and their council member is a partner, not a figurehead. This is about a city that works for its people, takes their concerns and shapes the community around them based on their desires. Representative governance is not about politicians taking their plans and forcing them upon residents, it is about listening, getting input from our constituents and implementing a vision that works for the people they represent.
The Dallas City Council stands as a component of Texas governance, wielding legislative authority over one of the state’s largest cities. Its uniqueness lies in its council-manager structure, which balances elected representation with professional administration, and its capacity to shape policies that influence not only local affairs but also the broader legal and economic landscape of the state.
An elected official must embody a commitment to representing the will and interests of the people within their district. This requires integrity, empathy, and dedication to serving as a true voice for their constituents - not special interests or their donors.
I bring to the table integrity, a tireless work ethic, and a reliance on common sense.
The essence of this role lies in attentively listening to the needs of those we serve, responding thoughtfully to their concerns, and maintaining open, transparent communication with constituents.
Many may not realize that the City Council does not directly manage the city’s daily operations. Rather, it functions akin to a board of directors, setting the strategic vision and policies that shape the city’s course, while the City Manager oversees the execution of those directives.
While prior experience in government or politics can offer valuable perspective, it is not a prerequisite for effective service. The essence of this role is not confined to institutional knowledge but through lived experiences and a genuine commitment to the public good.
The most valuable expertise lies in a broad, practical capacity to render decisions grounded in common sense. This encompasses the ability to weigh complex issues with clarity, act decisively, and prioritize the well-being of the community with discernment and reason.
This office holds a distinctive and indispensable place in local governance, serving as the linchpin in appointing the city manager, overseeing municipal programs, and fostering accountability across all levels of administration. Its centrality ensures that the government remains responsive, effective, and aligned with the public’s trust.
I believe in absolute openness: there should be no secrecy in the actions or finances of the government. Accountability can only occur if there is transparency, ensuring trust between the public and those entrusted with their representation.
