An effort to recall Bill Sutter from his position as York County Attorney in York County, Nebraska was launched in September 2011. The recall effort began due to allegations that Sutter was inappropriate with his staff and others during his time as county attorney. Sutter was also accused of using profanity to create a low morale work environment.[1]

The effort needed to submit 1,165 valid signatures in order to trigger a recall election. According to reports, the recall effort turned in those signatures by October 14, 2011, leaving officials to schedule an election. At the time, Sutter stated he would not resign, commenting: "I'm doing a good job, and I'm working every day at it. And I'm going to continue to work at it until somebody tells me differently."[2]
