Bill Swann (Tennessee)
Bill Swann is a former circuit court judge for the Sixth Circuit Court in Tennessee. He joined the court in 1982 and was most recently re-elected without opposition in 2006.[1][2] Swann did not seek re-election in 2014 and retired at the end of his term in August 2014.[3]
Education
Swann received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University in 1964 and his J.D. degree from the University of Tennessee in 1975. Prior to his legal career, he worked as a professor at Brown University from 1970 to 1972.[1]
Career
Swann began his legal career in 1974 as a clerk for the Tennessee Court of Appeals. The following year, he joined the law firm of Kremer & Rayson. He practiced there until 1979, when he joined the firm of Hogin, Guyton, Swann & London. He worked as an attorney there until his judicial election in 1982.[1]
