Born and raised on the Westside, Billy Palmer has worked more than 20 years to empower our community, to build bridges across our city, and to amplify our Westside voices.

From his first job as “Community Builder” with YouthWorks, Billy learned the value of community. As he developed a career in film and television production, he kept volunteering with NeighborWorks as a way to give back. Later, he would host KRCL’s RadioActive, a community affairs program that immersed Billy in a wide range of city issues.

Raising three sons on the Westside, Billy kept working to make meaningful change for our Glendale, Poplar Grove and Fairpark neighborhoods. Some of his recent community work includes: Westside Master Plan Steering Committee (2011-2012), a process that outlined a vibrant future for the Westside; SLC Community Development Capital Improvement Program Citizen Advisory Board (2012-2017), where he represented District 2; and Glendale Community Council (2016-2019), serving in various leadership roles.

With his history rooted in the Westside, deep relationships in our community, and the experience advocating for our neighborhoods, Billy Palmer is the candidate who will fight for the Westside. You can read more about Billy and his vision for the Westside at billypalmerSLC.com.

  • History Matters. Rooted in our community, I've been fighting for the Westside for 25+ years.
  • Relationships Matter. With support within our community and an ability to build bridges across our city, I will be the most effective leader.
  • Representation Matters. Our Westside community deserves better.
I am deeply passionate about empowering our Westside community, which involves the public policy areas of: Housing and Homelessness, Safe Streets, Public Safety and Police Reform, and an Economy for All of Us. You can read my passion on these policy areas (and more!) at my website: billypalmerSLC.com
My first job was a "Community Builder" (actual job title) with YouthWorks, a youth program building affordable housing in our neighborhood. While I graduated from the program after a little more than a year, I would invest 20+ years of my life giving back through volunteer work with the YouthWorks program and NeighborWorks, the nonprofit that runs the program.
