A sales tax measure was on the ballot for Blythe voters in Riverside County, California, on May 5, 2020.[1] It was approved.

A "yes" vote supported authorizing the city to levy an additional 1% sales tax, thereby increasing the total sales tax rate in the city from 7.75% to 8.75% and generating an estimated $1.144 million per year in general fund revenue.

A "no" vote opposed authorizing the city to levy an additional 1% sales tax, thereby leaving the total sales tax rate in the city at 7.75%.


A simple majority was required for the approval of Measure K.

Ballot question

The ballot question was as follows:[1]

To provide the City of Blythe with funding to maintain police and fire services, fund blight and building abatement, address homelessness, attract/retain businesses, replace aging public safety equipment, make street/pothole repairs, and fund other general services, shall the measure establishing a 1% local sales tax (transactions and use tax) that will raise approximately $1,144,000 annually, until ended by voters, with annual independent audits and all funds remaining in Blythe, be adopted?[2]
