New York's 19th Congressional District was a battleground district in 2016. Incumbent Chris Gibson (R), who began serving in Congress in 2011, chose not to seek re-election in 2016, leaving the seat open. John Faso (R) defeated Zephyr Teachout (D) in the general election on November 8, 2016.
