Recall reports

An effort to recall Dartmouth, Massachusetts Fire District 2 Prudential Committee chair Bob Bouley was initiated in 2023. A recall petition submitted by residents of the fire district was certified by the Dartmouth town clerk on February 9, 2023.[2][3] A recall election was set for July 31, but was converted to a special election when Bouley resigned from office on June 22.[4]

Recall supporters

Supporters of the recall argued that Bouley's proposal to remove certain firefighting equipment due to the expense of its maintenance could jeopardize public safety. They also argued that Bouley's decision to remove Acting Fire Chief Greg Edgcomb from his role violated due process and open meetings law. Finally, supporters of the recall claim that Bouley has cost the district money unnecessarily by including an attorney in Prudential Committee meetings, resulting in $38,000 in legal fees.[3]

Recall opponents

As of March 10, 2023, a response from Bouley to the recall attempt has not been identified.
