Biography
Engel has past work experience in managerial roles in retail stores. He spent most of his career as the transportation supervisor for the Northwest Local School District. He has served on the building committee where he reviewed building plans for the district. Engel received his bachelor's degree from the University of California.[2]

Two of the five seats on the Northwest Local School District Board of Education were up for election on November 3, 2015. All members represent the district at-large.
Incumbent Jim Detzel won re-election to his seat on the board. Bob Engel defeated incumbent Dan Unger for the other seat on the ballot. Other candidates that ran for the two seats included Dexter Carpenter, Elaine Gauck, Ryan Manring and Bev Spellmeyer.[3][4][5]

Funding
Engel reported $2,660.00 in contributions and $2,433.82 in expenditures to the Hamilton County Board of Elections, which left his campaign with $226.18 on hand in the election.[6]
Endorsements
Engel received official endorsements from the Northwest Association of Educators, Ohio Association of Public School Employees Local 230 and the Cincinnati AFL-CIO Labor Council.[2]
