Biography
Bob MacGuffie was born in New York, New York and has lived in Fairfield, Connecticut for 30 years. His career experience includes working as the VP of insurance business development at GE Capital. MacGuffie co-led the Connecticut Tea Party movement and also served as head of Senator Ted Cruz’s presidential primary campaign in Connecticut in 2016.[1]

ON THE ISSUES The job of Government in a democratic Republic such as ours, is to create the conditions by which citizens are able to have sufficient food, shelter, public safety, secure borders, a strong national defense, and a society that is protected from that government by preventing it from becoming tyrannical; it does this by tightly reining it in under the Rule of Law. America delivered the promise of Western Civilization by creating a government of the People; by protecting individual rights; by advancing the material benefits of Reason mitigated by the moral imperatives of Religion; by encouraging Capitalism and by enforcing law and order by teaching respect for it. At the same time, it allows for the type of vigorous critique, debate and self-audit that ensures the Law is codified according to current social conditions and is enforced equally and without bias or favor to any one group. It is with that in mind that I present my views on the issues that are currently affecting our district, our state and our country. Inflation, Debt, and Restoring the Economy ▶︎ Under the Biden Administration and Himes-supported Democrat spending policies, inflation has ignited and soared, eroding Americans’ purchasing power, and their savings. It has accelerated the decades-long decline in Americans’ standard of living. Americans are working harder for less, can no longer make ends meet, and there’s no end in sight. ▶︎ Democrat spending policies during Jim Himes’s tenure have added $20 trillion of new Debt to the nation – that’s $46 billion of debt for the taxpayers of CT-4, or $171,000 per Fairfield County household. The U.S. is now paying over $1 trillion annually in interest carrying costs – and will be forced to borrow more each year just to pay the annual interest expense – this is a financial death spiral. ▶︎ Joe Biden with Jim Himes’s 100% voting support, has taken President Trump’s highly successful economy, with historically increased incomes for Blacks, Hispanics, and women, and driven the American people into the worst economic crisis in decades. ▶︎ We must Restore the economy with the policies of Economic Liberty; broadly cut business killing regulation; end one-way trade deals; and reverse all Himes-supported taxes. Rein in federal spending to the pre-pandemic levels of 2019 and the 2023 budget would be balanced! ▶︎ I will work to pass legislation to encourage formation of businesses on U.S. soil and disincentivize the shipping of jobs overseas, particularly manufacturing jobs. We need to require the onshoring of any businesses determined to be vital to the national security, or the vital healthcare interests of the U.S. ▶︎ I will not support any budget which calls for continued deficit spending. Restore Energy Independence / Dominance Upon taking office the Biden Administration cancelled the Keystone Pipeline and authorized the Energy and Interior departments to restrict drilling leases and permits. Exploration has also been restricted. Fracking on federal land is now severely restricted. These anti-energy policies are driven by the ‘Climate’ agenda, which has evolved into a pseudo-religion ‘Green Dream’ for the Democrats. Their actions embody the socialistic goal of the destruction of industry, innovation, and Capitalism itself. The result of these policies has been severe restrictions on the growth of the domestic energy industry, and a significant increase in cost to the U.S. consumer. The U.S. has gone from energy independence and an exporter of energy, to unnecessarily restricted domestic supplies and increasing dependence on foreign energy sources. Under Biden’s Administration, with Himes’s support, the U.S. has gone from Energy Independence in 2020 to a return to dangerous energy dependence on foreign sources. Himes-supported policies now have U.S. diplomats begging for energy from the authoritarian regimes in Venezuela and the Middle East. The U.S. must return to Energy Independence and Dominance: by lifting restrictions on U.S. energy leasing, permitting, and production; by restarting the Keystone and other pipelines; by restarting ANWAR production; by encouraging fracking and off-shore drilling; and through the pursuit of safe, modern nuclear power plants. I support a U.S. pursuit of a full-spectrum energy policy of fossil fuels, clean coal, nuclear power and alternative energy forms wherever feasible. Crime and Public Safety Jim Himes has tacitly supported the Biden Administration’s coddling of Democrat city mayors who have removed legal penalties for minor theft and minor assault; have pursued ‘cashless bail’, pushing violent criminals back on the street; and allowed the ‘homeless’ to menace citizens everywhere. Himes’s cynicism on the issue indicates he is far more concerned with the rights of criminals than with the suffering of the victims. Indeed, he was silent as Antifa and BLM riots resulted in the burning of cities throughout the summer of 2022. The result has been a significant increase in crime across all areas of the country, with murder rates rising over 30% nationally, leading increases in virtually every crime category. The Democrat policies which have incentivized increased lawlessness include: Defund-the-Police, Cashless Bail, De-carceration of violent criminals, as well as a concerted effort to install the most pro-criminal D.A.s across the nation’s cities. These policies are destroying the criminal justice system and are unleashing a crime wave upon innocent, average citizens, Black, White, Hispanic and Asian, as well as the elderly, the poor and even the children who are most vulnerable to them. Meanwhile, they wink and nod to the criminal class, re-assuring them that pro-Crime D.A.s will do all they can to exempt them from punishment. I oppose all these dangerous policies. Public Safety can be restored by RE-funding the police, denying federal funds to cities not complying, ending cashless bail, ending the de-carceration movement, removing D.A.s who refuse to enforce the law, increasing penalties for attacking the police, and supporting qualified immunity for police officers. I will support the removal of D.A.s who refuse to enforce the law. I will support legislation to deny Federal Policing Funds to cities that enact such anti-Law Enforcement policies. The homeless must be humanely removed from the streets and relocated to government run institutions where they can be treated for mental illness as well as drug and alcohol abuse. I will work to pass laws to accomplish this for the homeless. And in addition, if possible, establish training to become productive, working citizens of our communities again. Securing the Border On his first day in office Joe Biden ordered Mexican border wall construction halted. In addition, on day one, he suspended the successful Trump-era “Remain-in-Mexico” policy, which reduced illegal crossings to a trickle. It is apparent the Himes-supported policy of the Biden Administration is to maintain an Open Border, and in fact encourage illegal migration into the U.S. The result is that illegals are entering the country at the rate of 200,000+ per month - some 4 million and counting in the past couple years. Without a secure border we have no national sovereignty – and Jim Himes has indicated he agrees with this insidious policy, denying that the borders are open. The solution is to immediately reinstate all the Trump policies, complete the wall, end Biden’s reactivated ‘Catch-and-Release’ program, and renegotiate the Remain-in-Mexico policy. Economic and diplomatic pressure should be employed to encourage Mexico and Central American countries to stop mass immigration to the U.S. Known criminals caught crossing the border should be jailed in the U.S., with the message of these consequences sent back through the criminal networks. I will support policies to accomplish these objectives. In order to halt the smuggling of Fentanyl and other deadly drugs across the border, military options against the drug cartels must be considered. To complement the effort, the Mexican government must be pressured to join the U.S. in the systematic elimination of the drug cartel bases in Mexico. In addition, the same resources must be employed to severely limit the human trafficking trade. Finally, regular order must return to the Legal process of immigration, with proper staffing and expediency in processing applicants for legal entry to the USA, putting priority on those who bring skills that are needed to help America succeed. I will support all such efforts and legislation. Pursue America’s Interests through a Strong National Defense The Biden Administration has promoted politically-correct policies that have weakened our armed forces and undercut national defense. Recruitment is down in almost all branches of miliary service because of adherence to the WOKE policies of academics, media celebrities and politicos rather than military professionals. We have fallen behind our adversaries and enemies in the size of our Navy, in the modernization of our nuclear missile defense, and in our abilities related to satellite defense in space. The weakness of the Biden Administration resulted in the disastrously mis-handled withdrawal from Afghanistan, thereby strengthening the hand of Islamist Terrorism and emboldening other enemies of our country. Biden’s weak words regarding Russia’s threats against Ukraine no-doubt led Vladmir Putin to believe he could get away with launching a war of conquest. Biden’s weakness toward China has emboldened it to ramp up its threats against Taiwan, and the North Koreans have commenced launching powerful missiles over Japan. His Administration remains committed to reviving the destructive JCOPA agreement with Iran that puts them on a fast track to have nuclear weapons, and even trusts our Russian enemies to sit at the table with the Iranians to negotiate this terrible deal in our stead! His Administration is sympathetic to tin-pot dictatorships in Cuba, Venezuela and Palestine while giving the concerns of our ally Israel the cold shoulder. Jim Himes is complicit in, and has publicly defended these policies and strategies. The hostile international atmosphere the U.S. faces today is a direct result of the breakdown of the ‘Liberal International Rules-Based Order’ which is constantly referenced by Jim Himes and the Administration’s officials. The fatal flaw in that approach, going back many decades, is that only the U.S. and other western allies have adhered to its “rules.” The Russians, the Chinese, the Iranians and their other less powerful allies scoff at ‘rules-based order,’ subvert it, and exploit it - all to their collective advantage. They must now be opposed, with an American-Interests-First policy, along with our allies who are willing to fight for the great traditional values of Western Civilization. I would oppose all the dangerous policies of congressional Democrats and the Biden Administration, which Jim Himes has supported with his votes. I would support ending all WOKE propaganda in the armed forces and increase recruitment by raising pay, increasing education opportunities and establishing post-military job placement services. I would support permanently ending the JCOPA with Iran. I would support the development of hypersonic missiles to counter those developed by our adversaries and enemies. I would support a Strategy of Deterrence against China, Russia, North Korea and Iran by creating and strengthening regional alliances that will together be able to contain the dangerous ambitions of these aggressor countries. I will support undermining anti-American governments in our own hemisphere and reward countries that side with the United States on international issues. Finally, we must ON-SHORE America’s industries that are critical to defense, and national healthcare i.e., critical pharmaceuticals. Restoring Parental Rights and Control of Schools Saving K-12 There is no denying that our educational system is collapsing. The National Center for Education Statistics tells us that average scores in 2022 declined 5 points in reading and 7 points in math compared to 2020 – the largest decline in reading since 1990 and the first ever decline in math. Programs sponsored by the Education Establishment found in the Department of Education and left-wing teacher unions, illustrate that they care more about increasing their power and benefits, than they do about the students they are paid to teach. These interests pushed the Democrat Party, to which they donate so much money, to go along with their failed, scatter-brained approach, which undermined students’ ability to learn. Among their failures were the ‘Common Core’ and ‘No Child Left Behind’ programs that pushed an agenda that focused on bizarre learning methods such as ‘New Math,’ ‘Whole Language Learning,’ WOKE racial propaganda, and anti-American history. The result was that in 2017, two-thirds of American students can’t read on grade level, and the average eighth-grade reading score declined in more than half of all 50 states. According to former Secretary of Education Betsy De Voss, “Scores have flatlined for a decade. Worse yet, scores for our most vulnerable students continue to decline. We are being outpaced not only by our global competitors like China and Russia, but also by countries like Estonia, Finland and Canada.” Instead of academics, our children are being taught that America is a racist society with an evil past. Its Founders are described as nothing but slaveholders, and its accomplishments are demeaned as the result of pillaging conquered and enslaved peoples. The most extreme forms of sexual perversity are passed off as normal, that there are 83 different genders and even the most obscene books are deemed appropriate for school libraries. Worst of all, a derivative of Communist social philosophy called Critical Race Theory, teaches Black children that they are incapable of learning without massive aid from Liberal “educators” and that Hispanic children can never break out of the ethnic ghetto, to which Liberals have condemned them. Meanwhile, White children are taught to be self-loathing as revenge for past racism they had nothing to do with, and of which they are completely innocent. Jim Himes has indicated he is totally on-board with the totality of this subversive program. The Biden Administration and Jim Himes are wholly owned by their donors in the teachers’ unions, which provide the campaign lucre enabling them to remain in power. I oppose the teaching of Critical Race Theory in K-12 schools and will work to prevent its insidious agenda from being supported at the Federal level. I will oppose WOKE propaganda from being disseminated in schools, and will work to empower parents to resist, overcome and remove it. I will work to return to successful, traditional teaching methods such as phonics for reading and support ending trendy failures such as “New Math.” I oppose the inclusion of age-inappropriate sexual material in school libraries; the sexualization of minors; and the entire agenda of discussion of sexual identities in grammar schools. I oppose the schools sanctioning any discussion of gender identity with specific students without parent involvement. In addition, any surgeries on minors, pursuant to gender dysphoria, should be illegal. And, I oppose history and literature being used to promote an anti-American, anti-Western political philosophy and the discussion of teacher’s private lives and personal views with students. To every extent possible from the federal level, I will work to rectify this entire mis-guided and subversive education agenda. Public Education should be expected to encourage respect for the great history of traditional American values, history, heroes, experiences, myths and holidays as well teach tolerance of personal choices and differences as well as knowledge of other cultures. Higher Education As captives of the Education Establishment, The Biden Administration gets fervid support from Jim Himes in glossing-over the expensive failure of higher education in the U.S. They support college loan programs that do far more for the expansion and profits of the University than they do for the job prospects of the students. Upon graduation, students find themselves drowning under the burden of paying back loans so onerous that they delay important life choices such as marriage, buying their first home and having children. A college education was once the key to successfully achieving the American dream. Now, the dead-end majors and expensive college loans laid upon students by the university system have become an American nightmare. Meanwhile, the answer provided by Democrats and Jim Himes is to have the taxpayers, including those who have already paid off their own loans, or who never went to college at all, pay for the expensive mistakes of others via a monstrously huge boondoggle falsely called “College Debt Forgiveness,” which doesn’t forgive loans, but instead shifts the payment to everyone else. I will call for congressional hearings to bring college administrators in to explain why the Federal Government should support this dishonest scam with Federal aid to their institutions. I will demand to know why their schools are so lacking on diversity of thought and why the throttling of free speech is not only permitted but encouraged on campus by WOKE ‘thought police.’ I will oppose government intrusion into contracts between students and lenders and I will vote to end the government bailout of college loans on the backs of the taxpayers. Spur Small Business Growth There are 26,000 businesses in Fairfield County. The vast majority are small businesses of less than 500 employees. Every one of them is managed on tight margins, which are continually squeezed by a raft of unnecessary Federal and State regulations. Protracted, subsidized and over-regulated markets produce higher prices, fewer choices and shortages. In the 4th quarter of 2022, 37% of U.S. small businesses could not fully pay their rent! The Cato Institute analyzed the barriers to launching small businesses and issued a report: Entrepreneur Regulatory Barriers Index. Connecticut ranked 50th, indicating CT entrepreneurs faced the most barriers to starting a business of any state in the union. Those barriers include the cost and time in filing excessive numbers of permits and licenses; complex procedures and requirements; unreliable and delay-prone bureaucracies; favoritism and corruption; and the lack of government transparency. I will support a legislative full court press to ease the regulatory burden on small business and incentivize the flow of investment capital to them. I will work with like-minded representatives to reverse Biden’s reclassification of workers in the ‘gig economy,’ back to the independence that provided them the most flexibility in deciding when, where and how they work. Maximize worker autonomy by implementing market-oriented measures on education, remote and independent work, home-based business, and employee benefits. I will propose ‘Economic Opportunity Zones’ and ‘Enterprise Zones’ to deeply incentivize business formation in CT-4. Small business ownership represents our individual economic freedom and I commit to always take action for the benefit of small business owners. Corporate Media’s ‘Iron Cloak’ – Quelling Speech in CT-4 The huge and sprawling Hearst Media corporate empire now owns a burgeoning portfolio of news outlets across Connecticut; these range from large, Connecticut Post, to small town papers such as the Trumbull Times. In the 4th District alone, Hearst has acquired the leading town paper in 13 of the district’s 17 towns. Hearst is no friend of the free-speech rights of Republicans or anyone on the right side of the spectrum. Independent media outlets are practically drowned out of the community conversation, its news and reporting. The result of this smothering media control has been to throw an Iron Cloak over freedom of speech in the towns in our part of the state. Hearst outlets all advocate a Progressive Liberal editorial policy and their news reports all reflect that bias. Republicans can expect to either be ignored or to be slandered; further, they can expect that their views will be subject to misinformation and given the worst possible spin. Contrarily, Democrats can expect such glowing coverage that they need to do little more than submit their biased press releases to Hearst and then see those releases disseminated as written, within the papers’ articles, and then editorially lauded as effective policy. And the effect on the residents...the readers...the citizenry is in a sense, traumatic. Average people appear to be narcoticized into adopting the corporate media’s establishment line. News coverage of events is consistently delivered through a progressive lens i.e.; the baseline of every story is presumed to be progressivism. Facts inconvenient to the progressive narrative are often omitted from stories, or the stories are laden with adjectives and modifiers designed to make Republicans and Conservatives appear negative or suspicious. In its totality, news coverage here amounts to propaganda. I would support the enforcement of anti-trust laws that would prevent massive corporate media combinations which result in the quelling of speech. Liberating Our Cities Democrats have shaped the life of America’s inner-cities since LBJ’s Great Society of the 1960s, largely turning them into hopeless welfare states, reducing the poor from citizens to clients of the state. Welfare dependency breaks up families, minimizes work incentives, blocks people from saving and acquiring property, and overshadows dreams with despair. Democrats hold the wrong principles and offer failed policies. Since 1970, the number of children living in poverty has increased by some 45 percent. The tax code, the welfare laws, and the rules of bureaucracy all add up to a system that is anti-work, anti-family and anti-opportunity. We owe it to all young Americans in every neighborhood, to save them from a Democrat-constructed system that is depriving them of their God-given rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The unfortunate youth cannot experience the fullness and blessings of American life while they are trapped in a welfare bureaucracy. They need to be imbued with the values of American civilization and escape the pauperism fostered by Democrat ‘maintenance’ programs. Economic opportunity is the cornerstone of any urban turnaround program. The Neighborhood Revitalization Zones (NRZ) and Enterprise Zones in the cities need to be turbo-charged with additional tax incentives and vigorously promoted. Regulatory red-tape needs to be slashed. The spirit of entrepreneurship needs to be awakened, and youth encouraged that they can create their own jobs. I will access every federal resource available to incentivize business. An emphasis on solid families is another indispensable cornerstone in strengthening community. Welfare programs need to be reoriented to motivate fathers to accept financial responsibility, and stay with their children. The law and related regulations should promote, not deter the acceptance of family responsibilities - any regulation not promoting these values will need to be changed. Religious worship should be respected and encouraged as a stabilizing and enriching element supporting all communities. As outlined above in ‘Restoring Parental Rights and Control of Schools,’ control of the schools needs to be wrested away from the teacher unions and placed back into the hands of parents. The focus of the education system needs to be for the benefit of the students, not the unions. First and foremost is establishing for parents the right to choose the school of their choice for the education of their children. Instilling a system of competitiveness in the school system will naturally raise the effectiveness of the education system in the cities. The challenge of homelessness needs to be seriously addressed at its roots of housing, poverty and mental health. The corruption and self-dealing of the supervisory government agencies needs to be exposed and eliminated. Every alternative private incentive needs to be deployed to channel the community’s best intentions into tangible impact on the homelessness crisis. In addition, the regulations on compelling mental health assistance need to be re-evaluated in order to effectively deliver the The Emerging Two-Tier U.S. System of Justice Over the last 25 years, a two-tier justice system has grown up in the United States. There is one for the rich, the powerful, the famous, and the ‘connected.’ If you are the Speaker of the House, you can pass lockdown laws to forbid women to go to hair salons during a pandemic, but Madam Speaker can go to her own; if you are the Governor of California, you can shut down restaurants owned by taxpaying citizens, but leave the most expensive restaurant in the state open to serve you and your donors; if you are the Governor of NY State, you can prioritize vaccination distribution so that your family, friends and donors are the first in line; if you are the son of a Vice President, you can video tape yourself smoking crack, illegally owning a gun and physically abusing prostitutes while at the same time selling your country out for money to its enemies… and have the FBI cover up your crimes by withholding evidence; if you are a Hollywood star you can have DUI and drug charges against you dropped in return for ‘community service’ as well as have your deadly shooting incidents on movie sets plea bargained down to a lesser charge. If you are a Liberal Democrat Senator who’s been involved in numerous tawdry scandals over a fifty year career, you can simply say “I’m sorry, but my family has had a lot of tragedy recently…” and then go on as if nothing happened; in fact, you can later be deemed ‘The Lion of the Senate,’ even by your Republican colleagues! Then there is a second tier of justice that is applied to the common citizen, for whom NONE of these options and privileges are available. While there are some exceptions, usually in only the most notorious cases, the ideas of Justice being blind and all people being equal before the Law have been demeaned and debased into a system of perks and privileges for those with the money and / or fame required to buy a place in the Aristocracy of Pull. Worse, these celebrity aristocrats enjoy such privileges while saddling Middle- and Working-class citizens with the burden of their phony virtue signaling about race or immigration or sex or gender, by forcing them to grant similar privileges to groups they favor. Certain races are deemed to be incapable of racism while others are said to be racists from birth; others can be exempt from following immigration laws while those who seek to enter legally wait for years; some are exempt from having to conform with gender specific sports teams or sex segregated bath and locker room facilities, while others must follow strictly monitored speech codes. And there is no exemption from this two-tiered system for high government officials. A Secretary of State can get caught red-handed with top-secret documents in her home and be unilaterally cleared by a politicized FBI, while a former President can have that same corporate media promote lies about similar allegations that are so powerful and endlessly repeated, that his home can be subject to a raid by the FBI based on the flimsiest of evidence. Congressman can sleep with spies working for Communist China and keep their job on the Intelligence Committee, but parents complaining about the rape of their children’s minds by WOKE school boards and teachers are investigated as ‘terrorists.’ Anarchists can commit hundreds of acts of riot, arson, assault and murder, even of police officers, in cities across the country, while the Media and Democrat politicians excuse such crimes as ‘peaceful protests.’ The Major Cities Chiefs Association has reported that in a total of the 8,700 protests that took place in major American cities during that time period 574 of them were riots that saw mass looting and destruction with at least 2,000 police officers injured. However, when an unarmed, out of control mob commits acts of vandalism, trespassing, fighting with police, and parading without a license, they are called ‘insurrectionists’ and denied a speedy trial while languishing in deplorable prison conditions right in the nation’s Capitol. Such a situation is unfair and un-American. I will oppose all proposed legislation protecting WOKE doctrine that tries to justify the dangerous concept that there is one law for some people, and exceptions to that law for protected others. There can be only one law that all people must obey. Oppose the False Religion of Woke Counter-Culture The Leftwing base controlling the Democrat Party is now openly anti-religious. It agrees with the Marxist materialist conception of reality, and dismisses all consideration of GOD, spirituality and/or religion to be a manifestation of ignorance and superstition. I disagree with this dangerously pernicious idea; without a spiritual core, people are open to all sorts of dangerous ideas and susceptible to the kind of empty, values neutral relativism that has led to cultural decadence and decay in many formerly successful cultures and has certainly led to the same type of decay we now see all around us. The Democrat Left seeks to replace GOD with a new Unholy Trinity: Big Government, Gaia Worship, and the Socialist ideology that proceeds from both, playing out their roles as Big Daddy, Earth Goddess and the Unholy Ghost. I reject Expansionist Government because History has demonstrated it to be more diabolical than divine. I oppose the forced substitution of the environmental pseudo-religion of “Gaia Worship” for traditional Judeo-Christian values and I will fight against the doctrine of Dystopian Socialism from spreading its poisonous ideas in schools, in the social media, in the news media and in the entertainment industry... The US Constitution forbids the Government from establishing a state religion; it does not say the Government must try to extirpate religion from all aspects of American Life. People of Faith will find an ally in me. Draining the Swamp The Federal Government of the United States has become the monstrous Leviathan that the Founders most feared it might become. The Department of Justice targets parents as ‘terrorists’ at the behest of powerful teacher unions who are major donors to the Democrat Party. The FBI has become a semi-independent political police force that uses the law to target and persecute the opponents of its allies in Government. Political opponents are subjected to utterly unnecessary, heavily armed police raids on their homes in the middle of the night. Sometimes these raids are justified by semi-secret so-called ‘FISA’ courts, which are often discovered to be of questionable legality. Vast bureaucracies proliferate like rats, and have budgets that are so gigantic as to defy comprehension… all while subverting and exacerbating the very problems they were charged with overseeing. There is NEVER any bureaucracy that is either defunded or disbanded; once created they remain forever insulated, untouchable and inviolate, bloated, often corrupt, and utterly deaf to the concerns of the public – i.e., immortal. I will support efforts to begin chipping away at the power and reach of this seemingly permanent ‘Deep State.’ I will support efforts to return the FBI to its original proud position as the nation’s premier investigative agency and remove those who want to turn it into a secret police arm of professional politicians. I will support efforts to close down the Federal Department of Education, which is a corrupt tool of the teacher unions and has presided over a cratering of student performance levels and test scores since it began under the presidency of Jimmy Carter. I will seek to devolve matters of education back to the states, the localities and, most important of all - to PARENTS. I will support efforts to eliminate the Department of Energy, which since its creation has not produced one ERG of energy. And in fact, it has hindered US energy independence by promoting utopian and unworkable pipe dreams about ‘renewable energy,’ all of which have thus far failed to produce results that matched its promise. Supervision of nuclear operations can be transferred to the Defense Dept. Energy production is a function of the free market, and can only be stymied by the involvement of the dead hand of government. I would also support efforts to close the Department of Agriculture, which has become nothing more than a welfare distribution clearinghouse for the agri-business industry. Food inspection responsibilities can be transferred elsewhere. By ending just these three agencies, the government will be rid of counter-productive bureaucracies that cost the taxpayers some $464 billion in 2022: $235 billion for the Dept of Education; $31 billion for the Department of Energy; $198 billion for the Environmental Protection Agency.[2] |
