Bob Niemeyer (Republican Party) ran for election to the Oregon House of Representatives to represent District 25. He lost in the general election on November 5, 2024.

Biography

Niemeyer is the son of a dentist and grew up in Silverton, Oregon. He graduated from Silverton Union High School in 1973 and went on to receive a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Oregon State University in 1978. He is a licensed professional mechanical engineer and, in 1988, founded his own engineering company. He holds over 30 product patents to date.[1]

Niemeyer ran unsuccessfully for governor of Oregon in the 2016 special election to complete the term of Governor John Kitzhaber (D), who resigned in February 2015 and was replaced by Kate Brown (D). Four other Republican candidates filed to run in the primary.[2][3]

Niemeyer ran in the 2014 election for the U.S. House to represent Oregon's 1st District. Niemeyer lost the Republican nomination in the primary on May 20, 2014, to Jason Yates.[4]

Niemeyer's campaign website stated his "number [one] priority" was regaining Oregon's independence from overreaching government. Niemeyer also promised that as governor he would rewrite the state constitution to reflect these ideals.[5]
