I am running for Monroe County Tax Assessor to make Monroe County a better and more affordable place to live. I have a broad base of finance and business experience which will bring a common sense approach to our property assessments. I'm a Father for four and a grandfather of one. Our children deserve better leadership and I am at a point in my life where I can make that contribution.
  • I will ensure property valuations are reasonable and fair for Monroe County residents. Current assessments have been unfair as they have grown at 3 times the CPI causing undue burden on everyone, especially those on fixed income. I will work towards changes that would limit increases to 2% and freeze property taxes on owner occupied properties at age 62.
  • Property Taxes are a major portion of Affordable Housing. They have grown exponentially in recent years compounding the problem of Affordable Housing. Even renters see their rents increase at excessive levels due to the property taxes of their rentals.
  • Change is needed. The current Assessor has been in office for 40 years and no elected official should serve in the same office for 44 years, let alone 40 years. She has created and compounded the problem of Affordable Housing in Monroe County. Four more years would simply contribute to our Affordability crisis. Change is necessary to improve Monroe County. I will fix the mistakes of the past for decades with common sense leadership and the Monroe County Voter in mind
Fiscal responsibility. It's criminal that our country's debt went from 38 trillion to 39 trillion in 5 months and there is no end in sight. Our public officials are responsible for spending within the revenue they generate through taxation. On the local level we must generate reasonable tax policy that increases our overall standard of living.
