Bob Randall was the Colorado Executive Director of Natural Resources from 2016 to 2019. Randall assumed office on February 1, 2016, and stepped down on January 8, 2019.[1]

Randall was appointed by Governor John Hickenlooper (D) to serve on an interim basis following the resignation of Mike King. Hickenlooper announced on June 6, 2016, that Randall would remain in the position on a permanent basis.[2][3]

At the time of his appointment, Randall served as deputy director of the Department of Natural Resources under his predecessor, Mike King. He had also worked as the assistant director for energy and minerals and as the federal lands coordinator within the commission prior to his elevation to deputy director. Before his career in state government, Randall worked as a private practice attorney. He worked at the Anchorage-based environmental law firm Trustees of Alaska. After moving to Colorado in 2004, he worked as an attorney at Western Resource Advocates, a law and policy advocacy group.

When he served as executive director, Randall lived in Denver with his wife, Kate. The couple had one daughter.[4]

Political career

Executive Director of Natural Resources (2016-2019)

Randall was named acting director by Governor John Hickenlooper (D) on February 1, 2016, when former director Mike King stepped down in order to assume a position as the director of planning for Denver Water. On June 6, 2016, Hickenlooper announced Randall would remain as the permanent officeholder.[2][3] Randall served in this position until January 8, 2019.[1]
