Campaign themes

2016

The following issues were listed on Seay's campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

  • College: A four-year college degree carries about the same weight as a high school diploma did in the 1970's. Free public education should be extended to include four years of college or other continued education.
  • Economy: Small businesses play a vital role in communities across CD-04. These businesses and the entrepreneurs that run them create jobs, provide essential services, and contribute to the local tax base.
  • HealthCare: Healthcare should be a right, not a privilege. The Affordable Care Act was a strong start, but we still have work to do. There are still too many Coloradans who do not have insurance. We must protect and build on the ACA.
  • Veterans : Plans for war must include plans for how we will care for those who served and fought in the conflict. The philosophy of "Leave no man or woman behind" must include caring for those men and women once they arrive back home. This includes physical injuries, mental health care services, and ongoing medical care for the rest of their lives. Not to do so is a moral failure on our part.
  • Energy and the environment: Homeowners and communities should have the right to say "No!" before an oil company is allowed to drill on their land. We must address the difficult challenge of balancing our very real need for sustainable economic growth with our legitimate concerns about the environment, keeping in mind that there will be no economy if the environment collapses.
