Bob Solomon is a servant leader who has dedicated his career to understanding and strengthening his community.

Core to Bob’s values is his Christian faith, which has shaped his ideas about building community. Bob believes our community is where folks can come together to solve big problems, embrace individual freedoms, and strengthen one another through their differences. No matter where you find Bob - in his profession as a school counselor, serving as a church leader, writing columns for Healthy Families Nampa or guest editorials in local new outlets, or jamming out with his blues band - his life is rooted in service, joy, and stewardship. Bob’s greatest accomplishment has been raising four kids and watching them all graduate from Middleton High School and the University of Idaho, with plenty of camping trips in our great public lands taken along the way.

  • I hope to work with other legislators to solve long standing issues. Rising property taxes, crowded classrooms and desperately needed schools, poorly managed growth, rising housing and other living costs need attention. As these problems have grown, the legislature has been distracted by internecine fights over issues which rarely come up with voters. I will work towards the bipartisan solutions voters expect.
  • I view representing our district as a sacred trust under our system of government. This means listening and talking with people. I have done this at 5000 doors. Most voters are locked into extremes but have a pragmatic, problem solving view. They are asking us to compromise and achieve results.
  • Idaho’s future depends on what we do today. I will work for an Idaho in which young people (really everyone) can live, work and recreate, enjoying and preserving the Idaho way of life--including home ownership.
1. Education As a 35 year teacher and educator I'm passionate about making sure our schools provide a world class education to our K-12, Jr. College and University Students. This needs to include greater focus on Career and Technical Education. We also need to better manage our need for new schools, moving away from property taxes to impact fees to build them. Finally, many of our schools are in poor condition due to years of legislative underfunding. Stewardship demands that we take care of our education infrastructure.

2. Tax and Growth Policy: We need to fix property taxes, and ensure that infrastructure keeps up with growth as we maintain our agricultural base. I would reverse the freeze on the homeowners exemption, and and use impact fees to build new schools. I would consider a “bank” to ensure that improvements needed due to development come online at project completion.

3. Idaho's Outdoors and environment. I want great livability and outdoor opportunities for future generations. Our environment must remain hospitable with adequate open space, clean water and a healthy climate.

4. Housing Affordability: Develop incentives and private/public partnerships to ensure Idaho workers can purchase homes on Idaho wages.

5.Health Freedom: Lay persons in the legislature must not be allowed to dictate decisions which should be left to patients, their families, health providers and trusted clergy.
