The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 14, 2014. Andrew C. Sorg defeated Bob Vickaryous in the Democratic primary, while Sage Dixon defeated incumbent George E. Eskridge in the Republican primary. Sorg was defeated by Dixon in the general election.[5][6][7]
