Bobbie Shields is a lifetime resident of North Carolina. He is a licensed professional engineer and business owner. Approximately half of his professional career has been in the private sector and half in the public sector.

As a public servant, Bobbie directed county activities in the areas of development regulations, property tax assessments, health and human services, environmental services, capital project funding, and he served as a liaison with strategic partners. He enjoys a 47-year marriage to his wife and boasts three children and eight grandchildren. He has provided support and leadership in various community and professional organizations.

He is a moderate Republican - having spent his earlier voting affiliation with the Democrat Party. He has fully documented his life journey with gratefulness to all who have helped shape his world views.
  • Bobbie will provide principled and effective leadership.
  • Bobbie will protect of our rights as established by our federal and state constitutions.
  • Bobbie will ask "What is the problem?" and then offer his expertise to find solutions.
Bobbie Shields is personally passionate about economic development, infrastructure investments and education.
District 40 needs a senator who: 1) Understands economic development issues, is prepared to aggressively pursue job opportunities, knows how to protect against unnecessary regulations, has direct experience assessing tax-based incentives and in balancing individual and business interests; 2) Understands the importance of strategic infrastructure investments, community development, safety in the built environment. and appreciates the unique infrastructure needs of North Carolina's urban and rural communities; 3) Has first-hand knowledge of career technical education, the importance of STEM education, the need for civic and social awareness, the critical need for research in institutes of higher education, the importance of mentoring and linkages between the criminal justice system and educational deficiencies. Issues must be respectfully addressed in open and inclusive forums with the understanding that lasting trust is earned.
