Recall reports

An effort in Virginia Beach, Virginia, to recall Mayor Bobby Dyer was initiated in October 2021.[1] Recall organizers filed a petition with the Virginia Beach Circuit Court on October 25, 2021[2]

Recall supporters

The recall effort was organized by Virginia Beach resident Latasha Holloway in response to the city's handling of three separate shootings on March 26, 2021, that left two people dead and eight injured.[3] Holloway said in a press release that a recall election should have been held for "activities which have severely eroded Mayor Dyer’s ability to lead and to represent the City of Virginia Beach, with credibility, honor and respect."[1]

Recall opponents

Dyer said in response to the recall effort that "we want people to be involved in their government. It’s easy to lead when times are good, but when times are challenging, it really takes a leader to step to the plate and have a steady hand on the tiller."[1]
