Brad K. Bleyer is a judge on the First Circuit of Illinois. He was appointed in July 2004, effective August 16 of that year, to succeed Paul Murphy. He was retained in 2012 for a term that expires in December 2018.[1][2]
Bleyer was a 2016 candidate for the Illinois Fifth District Appellate Court. He ran to fill the vacancy created by Bruce D. Stewart's retirement, effective December 5, 2016.[3] Bleyer was defeated.

Bleyer received his undergraduate degree from Southern Illinois University and his J.D. from Southern Illinois University School of Law in 1982.[2]

Bleyer was an attorney in private practice from 1982 until his judicial appointment in 2004.[2]

Bleyer ran to fill the Illinois Fifth District Appellate Court seat held by Bruce D. Stewart.[3] In July 2015, Stewart announced that he would not seek retention in 2016 and would retire at the end of his term on December 5, 2016.[4] Third Judicial Circuit Court Judge John B. Barberis Jr. (R) was Bleyer's challenger.[3] Both Bleyer and Barberis ran unopposed in their parties' primaries and faced each other in the November 8 general election.
