An effort to recall City Councilman Brandon Chase McGee did not go to a vote in Denton, Texas. Recall organizers needed 2,751 valid signatures to trigger a recall election. 2,985 signatures were submitted, 2,668 of which were valid.[1][2]

Recall supporters

Denton Mayor Gerard Hudspeth announced the recall effort during a city council meeting on October 15, 2024, after the council did not approve the appointment of Erica Garland, who Hudspeth had nominated, to the Planning and Zoning Commission. Garland ran against McGee in the May 4, 2024, general election.[1]
