Brandon Gray is a Guilford County native, a small business owner, a community activist — serves as the first vice-chair of the Guilford County Democratic Party and on the North Carolina Democratic Party Executive Committee. He lives in Oak Ridge with his Husband and his Grandmother who he takes care of. Brandon is taking his record of advocacy to the state House, working to create a North Carolina that welcomes and supports all people.
  • The policy we have seen on closing our healthcare gaps has not met its intended purpose. We have to get back to putting people first in our healthcare systems, not the insurance companies. That means reducing wait times, keeping rural hospitals open, and providing quality, affordable care to everyone who needs it.
  • North Carolina schools have fallen behind and it's time we invest back into our school systems. The fact is our courts have ruled that education in North Carolina is no longer providing a basic education that is outlined in the constitution. We can fix this by properly funding our community schools and making sure that parents, community leaders, teachers, and administrators all work together to make our schools safe– mentally and physically for all.
  • Cost of living has plagued our daily lives and the COVID 19 pandemic only highlighted our economic shortfalls. When looking at our newest economic ventures to uplift our middle class and small business owners, NC will need to focus on renewable energy, raising the minimum wage to a living wage, building affordable housing, and forcing corporations to pay their fair share in taxes.
The stakes have never been higher. The choice has never been more clear. We can send a career politician back to Raleigh or we can send a fighter. We can send someone who is going to keep politicians out of the Doctors office by voting to protect reproductive rights, who will vote for affordable healthcare, legalize medical marijuana, and someone who wants to invest in our schools and keep them safe. Next year, our legislature will determine how NC will protect our constitutional rights. You know I’m not voting to take away any of our rights; I am voting to protect them and to move our state FORWARD. For far too long we have seen politicians take our state back in time. We’re not going back.

I am a 25 year old first generation college graduate majoring in Political Science. I have lived in the district my whole life. I love my community and helping others. I am very family oriented and I am my Grandmothers caregiver. I was raised to always give back no matter how little we had, and to help in anyway I could. So, I am running for North Carolina House because that is how I believe I can best help my community. I'm running to fight for progress, as well as bringing integrity and accountability to the NC House.
  • A new generation of leadership. I would bring a fresh new apprroach to the NC House by being one of the youngest ever elected. I believe this is needed now more than ever. Voters have the choice to vote for a 25 year old bringing a fresh approach fighting for progress or an 81 year old fighting for the status quo.
  • Healthcare: I think we should provide Healthcare to North Carolinians who need it. Too many people are choosing to eat or pay for their medications, or going into debt or going to the hospital. We are better than this. We need to make healthcare more affordable. I would vote to expand Medicaid.
  • Teacher pay and jobs: Our teachers are fleeing to other states for better pay. It is time we invest in our teachers and students. I would vote for a teacher pay increase as well as funding for our schools. This District has so much potential and we should be bringing more jobs here.
I am passionate about healthcare, affordable housing, creating a living wage, LGBTQ equality, racial inequality and climate change.
I look up to my Grandmother. She is the strongest person I know. She has suffered a broken hip, and a stroke and she still gets up everyday and fights. She is the person who taught me the importance of giving back and being selfless. I want to always follow her advice of giving back, being selfless, and never giving up.
I believe elected officials should have integrity and accountability. These are the two most important things.
I am compassionate, and always willing to listen and learn.
I believe the core responsibilities are listening to your constituents and voting for progress. That is why I decided to run.
The last song I had stuck in my head was 'Fight Song' by Rachel Platten. It's an inspirational song and puts me in a great mood.
I believe the greatest challenges facing North Carolina over the next decade is lack of healthcare, jobs, and climate change.
I believe it is very beneficial to build relationships with other legislators. You need to build relationships with legislators from both parties in order to get work done for your constituents. I'm ready to work with both sides on day 1.
I have heard a lot of stories from people, most recently a man told me his Mom died earlier this year and had North Carolina expanded Medicaid his mother would still be alive today. It made me want to fight even more for medicaid expansion. We are better than this and we should not be letting people die when they could be saved by passing a vote.
