First time candidate. 9 years experience in Nursing. Specializes in Pediatric and Adult Emergency Care and Trauma. Stands for personal liberties and minimal government involvement. Decreased taxes. Decrease spending. Wants to place more power in the hands of the citizens and business owners and less control or red tape from the bureaucrats.
As an RN, I am most passionate about personal autonomy in healthcare related decisions for myself and my family. This expands even further into government mandates related to healthcare as well as using our tax dollars to fund waste in the healthcare field. I would like to put more money into the hands of the citizens to decide for themselves how their healthcare is managed as well remove the ability for other individuals to drain the system that pays for their own irresponsible healthcare decisions.
I can't say that I have a particular individual that I look up to living today besides my father. He worked hard to provide for my family and overcame so many obstacles in the process. He instilled in me a great passion for family values, personal accountability, and the value of hard work. I would not be the person I am today without his leadership and example.

The Art of Virtue: Benjamin Franklin's Formula for Successful Living
To stick to those principles and ethics that the people elected him/her to stand for. An elected official is a representative of the people, not a shepherd of the people. Just as in the medical field, a nurse is an advocate for the patient. The elected official should always be an advocate of the people.
I am principled and stubborn. I am also open to learning and understanding. I stick to those policies I truly believe in and know can work while also never being closed minded in an understanding that someone else may know and teach me a better way.
To stay out of the way. An elected official is there to be a voice of the people and should only be there when called upon. The government should not create obstacles for citizens to live thier chosen lives. It should only be there as a way to help remove obstacles and allow for as little friction as possible.
That I helped facilitate the personal freedoms of the citizens of Arkansas to better live their lives free and unencumbered by the state.
My earliest recollection related to historical events would be of Desert Storm. I was 6 years old at the time. I have vivid memories of President Bush and the imagery of US troops in Iraq.
My first real job was working for my family's transportation company in Judsonia, AR. We had roughly 25 trucks that hauled freight to all 48 continental states. I was responsible for Dispatch, Safety and Insurance, as well as Accounts Payable and Receivable. I was with the company for approx 6year before we were forced to closed the doors in 2010 due to the economic downturn.
The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand

It teaches about original, sensible, and following your own path. It is entirely possible for a human being to follow their dreams in a selfish manner and it to effect society in a positive way.
Keep 'Em on They Toes by Brent Cobb
Realizing that you cannot depend on nor trust anyone beyond yourself. I do have faith in humanity, but I have an even greater faith in personal choice. I know better than anyone else what decisions are best for me, my family, and what I'm trying to achieve. I have a strong passion in believing that you know what is best for you as well and I do my best to stay in my own lane.
I believe a strong federal government should be in place to assist the states as a whole and protect the nation at large. I believe that when it comes to personal lives of citizens and choices made that effect individuals at a state level, those choices should be left to the state. The federal government has manipulated the commerce clause far too many times to expand its power into what was originally intended for states to manage. Those powers must be checked and challenged so that the federal government is only allowed to intervene in matters expressly written in the constitution.
Healthcare, education, and cost of living. Far too many issues related to the values of this state are being managed by a Congress in DC from politicians from larger states with policies and values that do not align with those of Arkansas citizens.
Bicameral bodies are an excellent format to help esure a balance within any legislative process. It forces more compromise and open debate while minimizing the power a single body can wield.
I do not. I believe government should be as simple as possible. Government is for the people, by the people. Every citizen should have a basic understanding of the governing process and participate at every level. The two party system has managed to create obstacles at every level to ensure their parties remain in power. There should never be a "Career Politicians". Our society is contiually growing and adapting. Fresh faces should always be welcomed and celebrated for bringing in new insight and knowledge to governance.
I believe the best way to compromise on any level is to understand where your counterpart is coming from and why they believe what they believe. Politics has been perverted with an Us vs Them mentality and we forget that those are human beings across the isle. It is important to get to know each person on an individual basis and remind yourself of the human element. They are not the enemy. They are not evil. They believe counter to what you believe on some issues, but why, and what can you learn from their insights?
I, like most americans, have many strong national opinions related to the federal government. I believe that the federal government serves to assist states to help govern on an individual basis. I would love to serve in Congress one day but also need experience on a state level to understand just exactly how I can help the federal government better assist the State of Arkansas and its citizens.
Emergency powers should be extremely limited in scope and have an expiration date. Any emergency that requires an expansion of the State's power beyond its basic duties should always result in an emergency session of the legislature. That is why we have a legislature. The executive is only there to execute those powers granted by the legislature, but it is the Legisltature itself that is an extension of the people.
I believe that compromise is required in any endeavor in life. We are a planet of 7+ Billion individuals. We all have our own personal experiences that have shaped our views, good or bad, when it comes to how this world should be run. There are certain issues related to personal freedoms that I will never compromise, but regarding policy, one must always have an open mind and a willingness to understand and work with those you disagree with.
