Schmoll provided the following statement to the Maricopa County Education Service Agency:

I am running for the Tempe Union High School District Governing Board because I believe all children in our community should have access to the highest quality education possible. Right now the district has achieved a very high level of excellence, and as a board member I will strive to maintain and improve upon that achievement. When I was younger I graduated from a Tempe Union school and went on to college where I graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration. Having involved parents and the bar set high in high school helped prepare me for the rigors of school and life. I feel certain things such as parental involvement, high standards combined with quality teachers, and small class sizes are instrumental in student achievement. It would be my honor to continue to serve our community on the board.[2][3]
