Campaign website

Shippy’s campaign website stated the following:

EDUCATIONAL FREEDOM

The right, the privilege, and the responsibility to educate children belongs exclusively to their parents. Parents may choose to receive help from public, private, and charter schools, or choose to educate their children at home. Regardless of their decision, this right shall not be infringed upon by the State. As your Senator, I will support parents and fight for parental rights.

LIFE

Human beings are created in the image of God and therefore possess intrinsic value. It is an evil crime to unjustly take the life of any person. With that understanding, the practice of infanticide via abortion must be abolished entirely. No group of people should be discriminated against or treated differently under the law than other classes or groups of people. As your Senator, I will fight to save the lives of our smallest and weakest neighbors.

BEARING ARMS

Free Citizens have the right to keep and bear arms of any type necessary to defend themselves, their homes, families, and communities against all threats foreign or domestic. The government, subject to the U.S Constitution, is not to infringe upon the right to keep and bear arms. As your Senator, I will fight for your Second amendment right.

MEDICAL FREEDOM

All citizens have a right to decide for themselves how to prevent or treat medical issues. Neither individuals nor government entities may infringe upon their right to choose what is put in or on their bodies.

WORK

Human beings are made to work and have an intrinsic right to do so. The government is not to infringe upon the ability for its citizens to work and make a living in the free market. As your Senator, I will fight to keep businesses open and to reduce the burden of unnecessary regulations. [4]

Brandon Shippy’s roots run deep in the Western Treasure Valley. His great-grandfather Samuel settled in Weiser following WWII, and his grandfather Terry raised his family in New Plymouth. His father, Darren, raised his family in Fruitland and New Plymouth, where Brandon grew to love his state and his county. When it came time for Brandon and his wife, Rakel, to start their family together, it was a natural decision for them to stay true to Payette County. Brandon was blessed with a heritage of strong work ethics and an entrepreneurial spirit from his family and friends, so it was also a natural decision for him to launch his own small business in New Plymouth - Shippy Sprinkler LLC. Brandon’s conservative values are also well-rooted and well-expressed. He serves as a volunteer for the Idaho Republican Party as a precinct committeeman, representing his neighbors, and as the Payette County Republican Central Committee Youth Committeeperson, in which Brandon represents Republican youth at the State-level Republican events. Having a heart for his community is expressed in Brandon’s volunteer work, both as a deacon in his church and through his chapel work with Narrow Path Prison Ministries. He and Rakel have also opened their home in the past as foster care providers. Brandon’s family is truly interwoven into the fabric of the community, past, present, and future. Now a father of three, Brandon feels a calling to help maintain Idaho’s culture for his children and yours.
  • Idaho needs leadership humble enough to listen.
  • Individual rights and personal liberty are paramount for human flourishing.
  • A strong law enforcement is essential for liberty.
The overall purpose of government, which is instituted among men, is to preserve and protect life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
An elected official must fear God, love the truth, and hate dishonest gain.
I believe I have the ability to listen well, and to set myself aside for the interests of others.
Number 1, listen to the people.

Number 2, seek the well-being of your people.

Number 3, stand on principle, which protects the rights of all people.
Each of us are directly accountable to our constituents, and we must each uphold our different constitutional duties.
The effects of inflation.

The destruction of the traditional family.

The effects of Illegal immigration.
Yes.
There may be issues that I'm dealing with in my part of the state that I need other legislators to work with me on; therefore, it's important to be able to work with other legislators.
Not sure.
There are many things that constituents in my district care about.
I’m happy to serve on any one of them
We are a government by the people and for the people, so the people then absolutely deserve to have input and accessibility in how their tax dollars are being spent.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Idaho

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
