What would be your top three priorities, if elected?
1.) Secure Infrastructure Investments: I will continue to advocate for capital improvements upgrades such as adding street lights, sidewalks, paved alleys, stop signs, traffic lights/ traffic improvements, and timely street and pothole repairs. 2.) Decrease Crime and Increase Transparency: I will continue to work with the Police precincts (North, West, Midtown Hills) in our district to address crime in our community and support the Community Oversight Board and continue to help increase transparency within MNPD and our communities. 3.) Create Healthy Environments: I will formulate a plan to decrease illegal dumping by working with Metro Public Works and MNPD 4.) Smart Growth, Unified Communities (Bonus): I will continue to balance the different needs associated with smart growth - where responsible development can match the needs of longtime residents and newcomers alike.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Policy is made on the behalf of the "public" and elected officials are entrusted with making policy decisions based on the constituency base they serve through open communication and listen forums designed to share information two ways - the elected official to and from the constituent - the constituent - to and from the elected official.
Is there a book, essay, film, or something else you would recommend to someone who wants to understand your political philosophy?
This is not necessarily policy driven, but it's a great book - The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz Be Impeccable With Your Word. Don't Take Anything Personally. Don't Make Assumptions. Always Do Your Best.
What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?
Integrity Honesty
