Brenda Cassellius
Brenda Cassellius was the Minnesota commissioner of education from 2010 to 2019. She was appointed to the position on December 31, 2010, and left office in January 2019.[1][2]

Before her appointment as education commissioner, Cassellius worked for 23 years as a classroom teacher and academic superintendent.[3]

Cassellius served as the Minnesota commissioner of education from her appointment in December 2010 to January 2019.[1][2] During her tenure, she worked with Gov. Dayton to implement the 7-point plan known as "Better Schools for a Better Minnesota." In this, she was "focused on excellence, equity and opportunity; closing Minnesota's achievement gap; supporting high-quality teaching and using innovative strategies to improve results."[3]
