Brenda Jones was an at-large representative on the Kansas City Kansas Public Schools Board of Education in Kansas. She was first elected to the board in April 2007. She won re-election in the general election on April 7, 2015.

Jones was born in Kansas City, Kan., graduated from the district's schools and attended Kansas State University. She retired from AT&T after 36 years of employment with the company. Jones is involved with the Economic Opportunity Foundation, Sumner Alumni Association, United Way of Wyandotte County and the Shepherd's Center of KCK. She is a member of the Metropolitan Baptist Church and a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts of America and the NAACP.[1]

Four seats on the Kansas City Board of Education were up for election on April 7, 2015. At-large incumbents George Breidenthal, Brenda Jones, Gloria Willis, and Christal Watson's seats were up for election. Watson was the only incumbent not to file to run for re-election. The three incumbents seeking to retain their seats faced the following five challengers: Irene Caudillo, Korri Hall-Thompson, Janey Humphries, Valdenia Winn, and Maria Ysaac. Breidenthal, Jones, and Willis retained their seats, and Winn won her first term on the board as the fourth-highest vote recipient in the election.[2][3]
