Collapse all
|For decades, Brent has been the go-to lawyer in Utah protecting individual, business, and constitutional rights. He has handled cases ranging from multibillion dollar lawsuits to representing a survivor of the World War II Bataan Death March against those who copied his account of the faith that got him through the terrors of war. For 35 years he has been a Director of the Federalist Society, the most significant organization promoting the conservative legal values of the rule of law and the proper role of judges
Brent's concern about the direction that career politicians are taking our Nation has led him to become a candidate. He is committed to continuing his father's legacy of conservatism, common sense, fiscal responsibility, reducing the national debt, cutting red tape, control of our borders, and getting things done. Brent's campaign emphasizes his non-politician, conservative, common sense, real-world experience approach to these issues.- We must secure our borders. Allowing more immigrants into the country than we can reasonably assimilate is unfair to American citizens. Airports, schools, and parks are not housing and using them as such deprives all of us of the use for which they were designed. Our cities and resources are being overrun, seemingly with no concern for the impact and cost on our citizens. The Biden policy is inhumane both to those coming here and to the American people whose lives are being upended by it. It is also fiscally irresponsible. It is unfair to everyone, particularly our children, that billions of dollars are spent to support immigrants which puts pressure on our already sky-high national debt – a debt that has eclipsed 34 Trillion dollars.
- Like you, I am very concerned that the national debt has risen to more than $34 Trillion, a level that threatens to strangle us. Servicing the national debt is about to be larger budget item than our military. That should scare you, it does me. Our government continues to borrow for an endless parade of government programs as though money comes from a magical money tree. There is no such thing. Living within our means is important in government as it is in our personal lives.
- It is becoming increasingly impossible for small businesses to navigate the tax code and the seemingly endless barrage of regulations from the federal government. As Ronald Reagan said, "Government is the problem!" For example, doctors spend a large portion of their time not being a doctor, but dealing with onerous paperwork mandated by government regulations. Let our doctors be doctors. Let those who are creative, create. Get rid of the red tape! The cost of everyday life has become unbearable. I will look at every piece of legislation and ask this question: will this make the lives of all Americans better or worse. Let’s unleash our entrepreneurial spirit and create a stronger more prosperous America!
