Brent Nelson is the chairman of the political science department at Furman University in Greenville, and an announced candidate for the Republican Party nomination for Governor of South Carolina in the 2010 gubernatorial election.[1] He later withdrew from that race to campaign for South Carolina Superintendent of Education, instead.[2]
