I am a lifelong St.Louis resident and being able to serve the city I love for the past four years as alderman of the 24th ward has been an honor. I have an undergraduate degree from Mizzou in Political Science and a law degree from SLU. I got my start in politics in my local neighborhood association when I was asked to run for 24th ward alderman by my predecessor. I believe that local government is where you can actually implement policy and see change. Ultimately, the answer to virtually every issue that faces our region lies within the people of our community. When we embolden neighborhood associations and other community organizations, we strengthen the fabric that binds us. This means that people look out for each other. Neighbors look out for neighbors and in St. Louis, from the North to the South, and from the River to the County line, we are all neighbors.
  • I believe in building community. We are all better off when neighbors are looking out for each other.
  • I have the background and experience to both draft legislation and to review legislation that others file in order to ensure that their proposals are what is best for the community.
  • I have the experience necessary to build the coalitions necessary to actually pass meaningful legislation at the Board of Aldermen
Community Question Featured local question
The Downtown area is hurting right now. We need to see a larger police presence downtown to curb some of the lawlessness that we have seen over the last few years. Currently residents and businesses are leaving our downtown area, which is going to hurt the City's bottom line.

My hope is that the recent investments in our MLS stadium and team and the XFL will help fill up downtown another 25+ nights a year. We know that on nights when downtown is full of people, we don't see the same issues as when its empty. Additionally, filling up downtown with people is great for the City's revenue stream.
Community Question Featured local question
In a representative democracy it is paramount to include the residents in decision making processes. This is why, during my tenure as the 24th Ward Alderman, I have empowered the neighborhood associations to help make decisions regarding controversial policy, as well as zoning and conditional use permits.
Community Question Featured local question
I have always advocated for getting our police department back to its authorized force. Additionally, I believe we need to look at public safety holistically. We need to work to calm traffic, to ensure streets are well lit, that trash is picked up, and that residential areas have clear lines of sight.
Community Question Featured local question
The best way to balance the needs and desires of existing community with new development is through the neighborhood associations. The existing residents and business community can weigh in on development and this helps to prevent displacement and gentrification while also ensuring that we are getting the type of development that the neighborhoods would like to see.
Community Question Featured local question
We need to work on officer recruiting to get our police department back to its authorized force. Additionally, we need to be looking at ways to calm traffic, to ensure our streets are well lit at night, to make sure trash is picked up in a timely fashion, and to make sure that there are clear lines of sight in our residential areas.
Community Question Featured local question
I have consistently advocated for environmental causes including cleaner air, water, and solar power.
Community Question Featured local question
I have advocated for and gotten into our last budget a Citywide traffic calming study. I was also the lead sponsor on a bill to update our plumbing code for the first time in almost 15 years, as well as a bill to allow the city to access $700,000,000 for lead abatement. When we combine the money for lead abatement with the federal infrastructure dollars, we will be able to make huge progress in abating lead in the City of St. Louis.
During my tenure as 24th Ward Alderman, I have drafted and passed legislation to increase the quality of or air, change the way that we deal with asbestos, and gotten access to hundreds of millions of dollars for lead abatement in the City. I was also able to change the way that the City looked at marijuana before our state changed the laws regarding it. I have also worked with all of the neighborhood associations in the ward to address the issues that are pressing to them, from ensuring our parks are well maintained to traffic calming to the planning of various neighborhood events.
