Charged with possessing child pornography (2021)
On March 17, 2021, Blomme was charged with seven counts of possessing child pornography. According to the criminal filing, he uploaded multiple pieces of content displaying the abuse of young boys to the messaging app Kik in October and November of 2020. Blomme was arrested the previous night in Dane County by special agents from Wisconsin's Division of Criminal Investigation. Following the charges, the Wisconsin Supreme Court suspended Blomme of his judicial duties without pay. An initial hearing was scheduled for May 29, 2021.[3][4]
On September 29, 2021, Blomme pleaded guilty to two counts of distributing child pornography. His sentencing was scheduled for December 22, 2021.[5] Blomme received a nine-year prison sentence with twenty years of supervised release for the posession of child poronography. [6]
On November 25, 2022, the Wisconsin Supreme Court revoked Blomme's law license. The court said: "Public trust in our court system depends upon public trust in the integrity of its judges. Attorney Blomme's blatant disregard for the law during the time he sat on the judicial bench jeopardizes public confidence in the courts and reflects adversely on the entire bar."[7]
