Brevard County Non Binding Slot Question (November 2012)
A Brevard County Non Binding Slot Question was on the November 6, 2012 ballot in Brevard County, where it was approved.
This was a non-binding question and asked residents if they would like to allow slot machines at the Melbourne Greyhound Park. Though it is likely that the State Legislature would ultimately decide if slots would be allowed, county officials still wanted to place the issue on the ballot to gauge voter opinion. It was noted that a license issued by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation would still be needed to implement slot machines and a lawyer for the county noted that it seemed that the Legislature did not have the power to stop slots if a license was obtained from the Department.[1]
