Brian Byrd
Brian Byrd was a member of the Fort Worth City Council in Texas, representing District 3. Byrd assumed office in 2017. Byrd left office in 2021.
Byrd ran for election for Mayor of Fort Worth in Texas. Byrd lost in the general election on May 1, 2021.
Biography
Byrd earned a B.B.A. in international business from the University of Texas at Austin and an M.D. from the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio.[1]
Byrd's experience includes work as a physician and a business executive. He has served as a member of the board of directors of the Fort Worth ministry Tarrant NET, a volunteer executive pastor at Christ Fellowship Church, an area coordinator for Prison Fellowship's Angel Tree Ministry, and part of a first-response medical team that traveled to Haiti following the 2010 earthquake.[1][2]

The city of Fort Worth, Texas, held an election for mayor and city council on May 6, 2017. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was February 17, 2017.
The mayor's seat and all eight city council seats were up for election. District 2 Councilman Sal Espino opted not to run for re-election in 2017. Brian Byrd defeated incumbent Zim Zimmerman in the general election for the District 3 seat on the Fort Worth City Council.[3]
