Brian Johnson is a 26-year resident of Pima County; his home is in the rural community of Picture Rocks.

Brian is running for Treasurer to ensure responsible management of public funds through transparency and a robust data system that’s integrated with the related County Offices and departments. He understands the need for the Treasurer’s office to play a meaningful role in our Pima County government; manage investments with a return that emphasis values of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Climate Awareness in alignment with the County’s Prosperity Initiative.

Brian brings fourteen years professional experience in the county government, and three years on the Arizona State Board of Equalization to the table. Accessibility to the Treasurer’s office will help local businesses with planning development and tax liabilities. Accountability, beyond the internal audit requirements, to the policy making Board of Supervisors is necessary to insure the citizen’s faith in the Treasurer’s Office’s responsibility to meet the needs of the community.
  • Prosperity - Investment policy that focuses on local investment.
  • Accountability - Report to the Board of Supervisors how public funds are being managed with mandatory quarterly reports. Publish investment reports that are understandable.
  • Accessibility - Integrated data throughout the county departments so there' is a resource for businesses and individual citizens. Make property tax and investment information easily understandable and useful.
I am passionate about policies that are environmentally pro-active. Climate resiliency is essential to a prosperous future. It is important to align investment policy with generational prosperity.
My favorite President is Jimmy Carter. His dedication to service, his integrity and his humility are guiding principles for anyone who wants to serve.
Integrity and transparency are essential, especially for an office, Pima County Treasurer, that handles public finances.
I grew up in a time when disciple and a strong work ethic were valued. I bring those traits to the job.
The core responsibilities are to ensure lawful compliance in the collection of property taxes and to manage those monies in a socially responsible manner.
Modernizing and elevation the level of service the Treasurer's office contributes to the community.
I was thirteen in 1968 when the assignations of Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert Kennedy wreaked despair and change in our social and political fabric.
My very first job, at age sixteen, was washing dishes at a local restaurant for minimum wage. I quickly advanced and learned cooking skills which helped pay my way through college.
The management of investments is a little-known responsibility of the Treasurer's office. I will make our investment policies public and report how they contribute to the prosperity of the community.
Government is a service organization and requires some knowledge of the laws and processes that are essential to delivering services to the citizens. My fourteen years in the Pima County government, which includes five years in Finance, provides me with a broad understanding of how the government provides services to the public.
Financial transparency and accountability are essential to the office of Pima County Treasurer.
