Bush's 2004 presidential campaign as the senior communications advisor. He has also worked as a communications director for the Republican National Committee (RNC) and as the communications director for John McCain's (R) 2008 presidential bid. Career

From 2001 to 2003, Brian Jones was the research director at the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) during the 2002 election cycle.[1][2] In 2003, Jones left the NRCC and began working at the public affairs firm, Mercury Public Affairs, as the vice president of polling and advertising.[2]

In 2004, Jones joined George W. Bush's (R) re-election campaign as the director of communications.[3][4] After Bush's victory, Jones shifted over to the Republican National Committee (RNC) to become the RNC's communications director for the 2006 election cycle.[1][5]

Jones began the 2008 election season as the communications director for John McCain's presidential campaign, but resigned in July 2007 along with Danny Diaz—Jones' deputy while the two worked for the RNC.[5][1][6] However, in September 2008, Jones returned to the McCain campaign in order to "help in the effort to bolster Ms. (Sarah) Palin," McCain's running mate, according to the New York Times.[7]

In 2008, Jones returned to Mercury as the managing director of public affairs, overseeing strategic communications.[8] By January 2011, he had transitioned from Mercury to the Black Rock Group (BRG) as a partner. BRG is a strategic communications and public affairs firm run by Jones, Michael Dubke, and Carl Forti in Alexandria.[9]

In 2012, Jones was appointed senior political strategist for Mitt Romney's 2012 presidential campaign.[6][8]

On June 30, 2015, Chris Christie announced his 2016 presidential campaign.[10][11] It was announced on July 3, 2015, that Jones would act as the senior communications consultant for Christie's official campaign.[12]

Christie suspended his presidential run on February 10, 2016.[13]
