Kennedy ran for election to the El Paso County Justice Court.
Primary: He was successful in the Democratic primary on March 4, 2014, receiving 37.7 percent of the vote. He competed against Sergio Coronado and Reed Leverton.
Runoff: Because no candidate received more than 50 percent of the vote, Kennedy faced Coronado in a runoff election on May 27,2 014. He was defeated, earning 42.1 percent of the vote.
