Approach to the law
According to the candidate's campaign website:
I believe our government was built upon a common belief that limited government is good ..I agree that we “are a nation of laws, not men.” However, I believe we have too many laws which are an unfortunate result of the complexities of our society and politics. I also recognize that with some of these laws there is room for judicial interpretation. As we all know words can have different meanings and laws can be interpreted differently. However, there is a difference between honest differences in interpretation and judicial activism. There are instances where there have been judicial rulings not based upon the principles of our Constitution and/or the intent of the legislature (which is ultimately the intent of the citizens), but rather upon the personal preference of the individual judge.
Education
Moriarty received his undergraduate degree from Baldwin Wallace College and his J.D. from Cleveland Marshall Law School.[4]
Career
Moriarty has been a sole practitioner since 1998. He has also served as Magistrate and Acting Judge for the Rocky River Municipal Court, Prosecutor for the city of North Ridgeville and legal representative for the Cleveland Police Patrolmen's Association.[4]
