Parsons ran in the 2012 election for South Dakota House of Representatives District 10. Barb Kavanaugh and Carmen Toft ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on June 5. Parsons and Jo Hausman replaced them on the general election ballot. Parsons was defeated in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[1]
